In future, all the major sporting events may just exist for the reason of making money and not for the reason of promoting the game and bringing countries from all over the world together. Many countries all over the world are vying to stage this glamorous event and the recent IOC bribing scandal has shown that many countries will resort to anything just to vie for the right to stage the event. The reason why so many countries want to stage this kind of world event is simple- the revenue that this event will rake in for the country is astronomical or in simple English, they just want to make money. Therefore, countries will resort to any method to try to win the right to host the event and this kind of underhand method will spoil the image of sports and more importantly, sports may lose its original meaning

With the ever increasing amount of money that is channeled into sports, the more glamorous and games, countries and clubs will receive more and more money. However, this is just a case of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. This shows that many businessmen are trying to plunge into the world of sports to further increase their wealth at the expense of the game of soccer. By trying to takeover the club, the company is ruining the game as by making the viewers to pay for the soccer matches, the viewers and the fans will lose interest in the game of soccer and sooner or later, soccer will lose its appeal and charm and the game will be destroyed. Also, by injecting huge amount of money into already wealthy clubs like Manchester United Football Club, the smaller clubs in the country will suffer as rich clubs like Manchester United Football Club will be able to attract top notched footballers to play for it. Therefore, small clubs will not be able to have the chance to be able to compete with it and the game will lose its competitiveness and attraction.

Also, with wages rising at an astounding rate, players will become more and more mercenary. This is evident in the recent lockout of NBA players. When the owners refuses to pay the players what they demanded, the players who are used to receiving this huge sum of money simply refused to play. This shows that the players are not playing basketball for the love of the game but because of the love of money. Therefore I hope that money will not change the face of sports as I had predicted and it will continue to grow and develop not because of money but because of the game itself.
